New Moon in Leo and Total Solar Eclipse

About this moon

Today we have a special moon, because it comes accompanied by a total solar eclipse.

First of all, no… today I'm not going to share a ritual with you (I'll explain why in a moment). But I am going to tell you about the energy that's going to move, and share a couple of reflection questions, because it's a really good moment for introspection and shadow work.

The moon in Leo asks you to observe your need to be seen, to stand out, to shine, to be recognized. This isn't about your personality — even the shyest person has a need to be seen.

And honestly… the recognition that matters most is the one you give yourself.

• •Do you let your most authentic, genuine self come out to play and explore?

The eclipse

As I told you at the start, this moon comes with a total solar eclipse: what begins to move now is a new cycle, and it will move you over the next 6 months.

Energetically, eclipses do something similar to what happens physically: the moon covers the sun… during the day it turns to night… and instead of light we find darkness.

Which means our shadows may surface… fears, judgments, anxieties… parts of you that maybe aren't so easy to see or accept.

But don't be scared: it's actually a gift, because that shadow is there for a reason. And by seeing it, illuminating it and accepting it, you're doing alchemy in your life.

And rituals during an eclipse?

Are they forbidden during an eclipse? Will something bad happen to me if I do a ritual? Should I hide and protect myself with obsidian?

Relax, it's nothing terrifying. It's just that eclipses carry a lot of chaotic energy, and chaos… well, it's almost impossible to control.

When I do a ritual I want to control all the variables to make sure I get the result I'm after: I choose the ideal moment, the aligned ingredients, the state of mind… I look for the energy to align with what I want to manifest or ritualize.

But with the eclipse, which brings pure chaos, there's less control. And it's more likely the ritual turns out different from what you expected, or that the manifestation doesn't happen because the energy took another path.

But again, it's not a bad thing. In fact, the eclipse will take you where you need to go.
